Technology
Printing technology that changes what's possible
A robotic printer that travels along your wall and prints high-resolution graphics directly onto the surface, cured instantly with UV light.
How UV wall printing works
The printer sits on a rail in front of the wall. Its print head moves up and down in vertical passes while the whole unit steps sideways, laying down ink a band at a time. UV LED lamps beside the head cure the ink the moment it lands, so it can't run, spread or soak in.

Measure
We visit, measure the printable area and note outlets, windows and other obstacles.
- 02
Design
We create your artwork or prepare your files, and share a proof for your approval.

Print
The printer rolls along a rail in front of the wall and prints in vertical passes, curing as it goes.

Reveal
No drying, no film to trim. The space is ready to use as soon as we pack up.

The equipment and print quality
Professional vertical UV printers built for architectural surfaces, with white ink so artwork stays vibrant on dark walls.
- Printing method
- Robotic vertical inkjet printer, UV-curable ink
- Curing
- UV LED lamps cure each pass instantly, with no drying time
- Colors
- CMYK plus white
- Resolution
- 300 to 1,200 dpi vertical resolution, multi-pass quality modes
- Printable area
- No fixed height or width limit; tall walls are printed in stages
- Standard margins
- About 12 in above the floor and below the ceiling, about 4.5 in from adjoining walls
- Effects
- Photographic detail, gradients, drop shadows, faded edges, transparency
Surface compatibility
Smooth or textured, inside or out. We print a test on every new surface first; some surfaces need cleaning or a primer to cure and bond properly.
- Painted drywall
- Concrete and concrete block
- Textured stucco
- Brick and stone
- Wood
- Metal
- Plaster
Print height and access
There is no fixed height or width limit. The printer's vertical axis is built in sections, and taller walls are printed in stages. What any particular site allows depends on a few practical things we check during your assessment:
- · Clear, level floor space in front of the wall for the printer's rail
- · Ceiling clearance above the print area
- · Obstructions such as beams, steps, fixtures and outlets
- · Power, and exterior conditions like wind, rain and direct sun
Ink
UV-curable inks that harden the instant UV light hits them. Nothing to dry, no adhesive films, no transfer papers.
Installation
A clean, dry wall is best, and freshly painted walls are ideal. We cordon off the work area while printing, and most projects take a few hours.
Durability and care
The cured ink resists everyday scuffs and cleans with wet wipes, isopropyl alcohol, Simple Green or soap and water. Exterior work can get a protective clear coat. To change it later, paint over it with two coats of primer.
wallPrint vs. adhesive wall graphics
Direct printing is the better fit for permanent, large or textured walls. Vinyl can still be the right choice for temporary spaces, short promotions, or graphics you plan to move.
Installation
- wallPrint
- Printed on site, directly onto the wall
- Adhesive vinyl
- Printed off site, then applied as panels
Adhesives
- wallPrint
- None
- Adhesive vinyl
- Adhesive backing on every panel
Textured surfaces
- wallPrint
- Prints onto stucco, block and brick
- Adhesive vinyl
- Struggles to bond to texture
Seams
- wallPrint
- One continuous image at any width
- Adhesive vinyl
- Seams where panels meet
Damage
- wallPrint
- No edges to peel; touch-ups are simple
- Adhesive vinyl
- Cuts and dings can lift and spread
Changing it later
- wallPrint
- Two coats of paint or primer
- Adhesive vinyl
- Peel off; can mark the paint underneath
Temporary use
- wallPrint
- Designed to stay
- Adhesive vinyl
- Better for short promotions and moving graphics
